More clinical evidence supports the i-gel 29 May 2008
Clinical evidence for i-gel continues to grow. April saw the publication in Anesthesia and Analgesia of an observational study on i-gel from Bordeaux in France, in 71 patients undergoing gynaecological operations. The results showed a 97% insertion success rate, mean seal pressures of 30 cm H2O and a success rate for gastric tube insertion of 100%.
Last month saw the publication of yet another study in Anesthesia and Analgesia, this time from Antrim in Northern Ireland, where the potential for fibre optic guided intubation through i-gel was evaluated in a case series on two patients with intellectual disability. In both cases, i-gel was successfully used as a conduit for intubation with a cuffed ETT. You can download the clinical papers from our website.
